Sentenced to be shot l/XII-43 imprisoned officer from 92 Infantry Division, 317 Infantry Regiment, Volkhov Front, 23 Strike Force. Taken prisoner wounded 25/VI-42. Was in Pskov camp. Arrested 26/111-43. 24/VII-Pskov, gaol, cell 12. From 25/VII-43 Revel Gaol, cell 40 and from 1/XII-43-solitary 1/17.
These inscriptions were made in Tallinn Gestapo gaols. On investigation of the gaol buildings shortly after the town s liberation by the Soviet Army, a number of inscriptions on cell walls, beds and tables were discovered. They had been made by former inmates doomed by the German occupational forces. Some of the inscriptions are reproduced above.
