OF WAR
ON THE WARPATH
p There was an essential change in the balance and alignment of forces between the major imperialist powers in the early 1930s. Germany, Japan and Italy, ruled by ultra reactionary fascist forces, warlords and monopolists openly sought to redraw the map of the world. They challenged the Anglo-Franco-American group of powers in a bid to dislodge them from their dominant positions. It is that struggle of the German, Japanese and Italian aggressors for world supremacy that led up to the outbreak of the Second World War. Lenin pointed out that " ’world domination’ is, to put it briefly, the substance of imperialist policy, of which imperialist war is the continuation”. ’
The land-grabbing plans of Germany, Japan and Italy were a formidable danger to many nations.
