NOTE
LEFT BY RESISTANCE GIRL FROM SLUTSK

p 1944

Borya, we are to be killed during the night. The rats can sense their end is coming. I told them to their face that we will win. Borya, please excuse me for causing you so much grief. You know we don’t always say and do what we like, and I love you so, so much I don’t know how to tell you. Borya, right now I’m in your arms and I’m not afraid, let them take me away. Yesterday, when they walloped me very hard, I whispered to myself "Borya, dear" and told them nothing-I don’t want them to hear your name. Borya, byebye, thanks for everything.

This note was written on a piece of notepaper by a 19-year-old resistance girl from Slutsk. Her name remains unknown.
